Cambridgeshire Men's County Triples
Matches in the Cambridgeshire Men’s County Triples League consist of 4 rinks of 3 men. The matches are played according to the rules of Bowls England over 18 ends. A match point is awarded for each winning rink and three extra match points are awarded to the team with the highest aggregate score.
The teams in the league are randomly split into two sections. This year Longstanton will be playing in section 1 for the Forsdyke Cup. At the end of the season, the winners and runners-up from each section play in two knock-out rounds to decide the overall triples league champions.
All matches are played in the evenings; from May to July the start time is 6.30pm; in August, matches start at 6.15pm. Matches usually last about two hours.
After the match a light tea is provided; this usually consists of some sandwiches and cake together with a cup of tea or coffee. For Longstanton’s home matches, the tea is held in the conservatory of the Sports and Social Club.
Longstanton Bowls Club has one men’s team in the Cambridgeshire County Triples League.
